physical abuse is only funny if it’s the girl doing it to the guy. if jimmy was beating alice, i’m sure it wouldn’t be half as funny. in fact, that would probably push jimmy past the “bad decision maker but somewhat likeable” category into the straight-up “bad person” category. though to some extent, jimmy deserves a good whuppin’. and might possibly be “into” that.

added alice’s bio to the cast page. you can check it out and stuff.

and … could anybody help me set up a twitter feed on my wcn page? i have no idea where to insert the html. my settings are resisting change like a baby boomer faced with old age.

p.s. i also wanted to mention i saw HANCOCK this weekend. (um, via the internet.) i mention this because the premise is eerily similar to my webcomic — drunken superhero, etc. i actually remember seeing the preview for hancock for the first time about two months after i started doing twelve steps officially and thinking “OH SHIT.”

my brief review: i liked the beginning a lot, where it explored him going through the legal system like anyone else except with superpowers, but (SPOILER ALERT) his origin story was so CONTRIVED. the appeal of the movie was that hancock was just as human as anyone else, with some serious drinking/life problems … and that was completely negated by the fact that he was IMMORTAL. i’m sort of iffy on what i felt about the origin of his weakness; and yeah, i was pretty sure charlize theron was somehow involved with him as soon as she was on the screen. dude, they did like, a three minute shot of her staring blankly after her husband brings hancock home, is that not obvious enough for you, audience?

anyway, although the pitch is almost identical to my comic, i think there’s some marked differences that still make my story … at least interesting, if not original. i.e., jimmy is a person first, superhero second. also, hancock was set in l.a., and how the hell can a city full of douchebags compare to chicago? clearly it can’t.
